The Legacy of Francis Lubega – Inspiring Hope for Generations

The Francis Lubega Children Foundation was born from a vision rooted in compassion, generosity, and an unyielding belief in the power of education. This legacy, inspired by the late Francis Lubega, continues to touch the lives of vulnerable children and families across Uganda.

The Man Behind the Vision

Francis Lubega was a pillar of hope in his community, often sacrificing his own needs to support children in accessing education. He believed that every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserved an opportunity to learn and thrive. Although his passing left a gap, his dream lived on in the hearts of those he inspired.

The Birth of a Foundation

In 2024, one of Francis’s children took up the mantle to honor his legacy, establishing the foundation to continue his work. From providing scholarships to building sustainable livelihoods for families, the foundation’s programs are transforming lives in meaningful ways.

The Ongoing Mission

Today, the Francis Lubega Children Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through education, health, and empowerment initiatives. The impact is evident in the smiles of children who now have access to classrooms, healthcare, and a brighter future.

I’m Gorreth Katayira Bwanswa—Chairperson & Founder of the Francis Lubega Children Foundation, proud mother of six, and a professionally trained maternity nurse with over 20 years of hands‑on childcare experience.  After qualifying at Mengo Hospital and building GK Maternity Nannies in London, I discovered my true calling: uplifting families and nurturing the next generation on both sides of the globe. My inspiration comes from my late father, Francis Lubega, whose honesty, hard work, and generosity shaped my own values.  Every time I return to Uganda for community outreach, I’m reminded of his commitment to service—and driven to honor his legacy through sustainable initiatives in education, health, and economic empowerment.  Whether I’m organizing a health clinic, distributing school supplies, or simply listening and learning, I bring my whole heart to every child and family we serve.
