About Hadijah
Hadijah, a devoted grandmother in Maya, is raising her granddaughter on limited means. When FLCF met her during a home visit, it became clear that they were living without proper bedding, compromising both rest and health. Since December 2024, FLCF has provided essential household support and continues to walk alongside Hadijah as she nurtures her granddaughter. Their story underscores the importance of extending care to elderly caregivers who shoulder the responsibility of raising children against great odds.

Hadijah is among the many elderly caregivers in Uganda who, despite their age, take on the full responsibility of raising grandchildren. Her granddaughter depends on her not only for food and shelter but also for guidance and love. Unfortunately, their modest home lacked essential items such as proper bedding, leaving them vulnerable to illness and exhaustion. Despite these struggles, Hadijah has remained determined to provide stability and comfort to the child under her care.
FLCF’s support has brought new energy to Hadijah’s life. Since December 2024, the Foundation has provided household essentials and continues to monitor their wellbeing through regular visits. For Hadijah, the support is not only material but also emotional—she now feels connected to a wider community that values her sacrifices. Her story reflects the Foundation’s belief in fostering resilience among vulnerable families and offering dignity to elderly caregivers who play an irreplaceable role in raising children.
